Senior Product Designer

About this role

We're hiring a senior product designer to join our 14-person design team, working on the core Mercury Banking dashboard. You'll own a major surface area end-to-end — from research to handoff to launch — and partner closely with engineering and product.

This is a high-autonomy role for someone with 6+ years of product design experience at startup speed. You'll be the only designer on your sub-team for the first 6 – 12 months.

What you'll do

• Own design for one of Mercury's core product areas (transactions, treasury, or business credit)
• Research with real customers — interviews, usability tests, in-app surveys
• Ship from low-fidelity wireframes to production-ready specs
• Maintain and extend our design system (Hub, built on Linear's principles)
• Mentor 1 – 2 mid-level designers as the team grows

You probably have

• 6+ years of product design experience at a fast-moving startup or product company
• A portfolio that shows shipped work, not just visual exploration
• Strong fluency in Figma, including auto-layout and variant systems
• Comfort working closely with engineers (you can read TypeScript without dying)
• Bonus: experience in fintech / regulated industries

Compensation & benefits

• Salary: $180,000 – $240,000 USD, based on level and location
• Equity: meaningful, with 4-year vesting and a 10-year exercise window
